Okay this game is addictive to say the very least; holy hell I love the ideas/ concepts done with this, I hope this gets expanded upon because it's quite addictive, I could honestly see your idea being the Fire Emblem of Newgrounds.

chazmuco responds:

OMG, that means a lot, dude. Thanks! We are going to release the full version by the end of the year, and it will be several times bigger. So, join our Discord if you want to stay tuned or talk about the game :)

Look let me explain a couple issues here;

sound design doesn't fit
Overly simple (of course I'm bringing up the fact you want to make profit from this)
As a clone of a game; the idea is to be the same quality if not better.
The gameplay loop is simpler than the original for what it is for the given ideas you've presented.

It's half baked ideas that you need to work at making some improvements on design wise if you want people to engage with your content more.

Edit: let me make this clear, it's still poorly designed; YOU put a game up that was going to be judged on a site like this. I am giving you honest, constructive feedback hobby or not. The, "oh this is just a hobby" THE WHOLE POINT OF A HOBBY, IS TO GET BETTER AT IT!

I have made countless bad games/ bad art and you want to know why I don't upload it to here expect a few expectations? Because the art in question I made is BAD, I know it'll be poorly received!

If you honest to god don't care to improve at your craft then why do you care if I leave a review?

raphaelcarrard responds:

let me answer you... all the games I make here are just a hobby, I have no intention of profiting from it (although it's a dream)...

*but the sound is horrible/doesn't fit and the graphics are plain*

friend... even if the game is simple, with sound that doesn't fit and with simple design, I'm happy because my game even with these problems, it's working fine without bugs.

no need to send me YouTube channel with game design tips as for me there is no need at the moment... see for example Baldi Basic's, his graphics are not good but he has fans because of his story and gameplay.

I'm sorry to say, you are providing constructive criticism and problematizing at the same time. and don't expect to make games with amazing graphics because that will be hard to do (maybe in a future update).

that's all

edit: I cared about your comment because look... I liked your feedback and your tips, but the problem is that you started humiliating me, like you started complaining about the photo I posted in a post from my workplace, the Minecraft porn I watched these days, you saying that Newgrounds only good artists are welcome here, this made me deeply upset

Text glitches, audio glitches with the audio turning/ stuttering, lag, even with those issues it's still a fun time. I don't know why it lags considering I can run Doom Eternal just fine; maybe it has to do with the web browser I'm using.

Jumping in and out for gaining resources makes it a bit too easy on some levels with being able to get back to max HP and getting a weapon that tears through enemies.

My problems with this;
1. this is a regression of the genre, not a progression
2. Bullet hells have three things going for it, defensive, offensive and evasive play. Most bullet hells have two of those three things because it's a rewarding of skill not typing.
3. Manual pressing of bullets in bullet hells from what I've seen isn't really done because the whole going to kill your fingers and everything.
4. The game over doesn't work.
5. Even if this isn't supposed to be a bullet hell, the game loop is jank; now in simple terms the game loop is how elements feed into the system. The most simple example of a game loop is pong, you hit ball, ball goes, ball tries to enter opponent side to score, etc.

What are you trying to make this? If you're trying to make this a typing game, lean into the typing part of the game loop, if you want to make this a bullet hell then lean into the bullet hell aspect.

6. This isn't minimalistic; in design sure but in gameplay it's far too complex for the number of controls for what is a simple set of genres you're mixing together.

An example; Something minimalistic would be making a three button platform like Down Well with landing being the reloading, shooting stopping you from falling, landing on enemies reloading your guns as well along with damaging them.

It's simple because the three buttons the player presses to move and fight are used to do many things, you have like what 5 button interactions to do little to nothing between all of them.

I suggest the following; study some bullet hells and see why players find them fun, study some minimalistic games, often they're very cheap games to find.

Conclusion
Pick a genre and stick with it; if you can make the rules work together then perfect, if not then go back to the drawing board.

This is insanely good! My god I could honestly see the final product being something you guys sell on Steam or something. Also to note; why the hell is this only rated 4.29?

Lack of anything; you do realize a beta is supposed to have some game mechanics, right? Besides walking around and a bit of music.

IamannpcIswear responds:

it does (it doesn't work I was using my script so I had to look up a tut to understand what to do)

The following issues;
repetitive music
short levels
too easy
too slow
the same level design which I assume it's all the same room layouts unlike an actual endless runner game that'll spice things up.
Overly simple game play
A very simple game loop and very simple game design

Also to note; ffs people if you're going to down vote this, at least give him actual advice to help him improve.

Painful on the ears, thank god I lowered the volume
Slow acceleration
sound spam
All the rooms look the same
The walls match the floor
The character moves slow, this would be fine if it wasn't about dodging bullets with many of the enemies being hard to avoid.
Repetitive "music"

Learn from Binding of Issac with enemy placement.

Zomple12 responds:

I Updated The Speed But Is Still Slow Come On ):(

There is no way to jump over the big webs, and other blockage; it's a simple game sure but it's unable to be gotten through.

Audio glitchy, again the jumps, and the gravity overall doesn't work for this platformer. The more floaty, for 3D Mario games the reason why jumps aren't as tight as the 2D ones is because they're making room for error.

Some audio bugs, and yes I know this is a demo. Also I hope you're not ripping any assets, Nintendo is a nightmare for companies to deal with as it is.
